Today is a very special day for Disney Channel fans. Why? Well, it just so happens to be the anniversary of one of our Disney faves. Yep, we are talkin' Cory in the House. The very last episode of the That's So Raven spin-off aired on September 12, 2008, 9 years ago to be exact, and we just simply cannot believe how long it has been since the finale.
The show first aired on January 12, 2007, which means Cory in the House only lasted a little over one year. However, the two seasons that it did air were nothing short of hilarious. Those 34 episodes will always hold a very special place in our hearts. Not to mention, Cory in the House was actually Disney Channel's first ever spin-off (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody's spin-off, titled The Suite Life on Deck came to the network later that month). The show totally started a trend, especially considering That's So Raven came back in 2017 for the spin-off Raven's Home.
Cory in the House followed the story of Cory Baxter (played by Kyle Massey) and his father Victor Baxter (Rondell Sheridan), after they moved from their home of San Francisco, California to Washington D.C. You see, Victor landed the job of head chef at the White House – so Cory and his dad legit moved in with the president. Casual, right?
Life in the White House was never boring for Cory. Newton "Newt" Livingston III (the son of a senator and the Chief Justice) and Meena Paroom (the daughter of the Bahavian ambassador) were Cory's besties and bandmates, as they formed a band called DC3. Cory also had a major crush on Meena, but Meena so didn't feel that way back. The daughter of President Richard Martinez, Sophia "Sophie" Martinez, played a huge role in Cory's life in the White House too, as she was always causing mischief (despite being referred to as "America's Angel"). Cue her catchphrase: "That's what they call me!"
